Rose quartz is known as a the heart stone and has been used to carve love tokens and talismans for centuries. In Greek legend, the rose quartz meaning of love has it’s origins in a tale of Aphrodite. Her lover, Adonis was attacked by Ares, the god of war. When Aphrodite rushed to his side, she caught her arm of a thorn bush. Her blood mingled with Adonis’ and it fell to the earth. As their blood dropped on clear quartz, it turned the stone to it’s distinctive pink color.

Rose Quartz Crystal in Myths and Legends
Ancient Egyptians believed that rose quartz could give you a perfect complexion. The goddess Isis used rose quartz to cleanse her skin. Since she’s the embodiment of youth and beauty, Egyptian women followed her example.
Rose quartz could be found in abundance in river beds and women would collect it. Then the crystal would be ground into a fine powder to use in cleansers and face masks.
